ATAB Elite Advanced Instructor Certification

Additional Information

ADVANCED INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATIONS

SUMMARY:

  • The following are advanced levels of certifications for existing CMAS certification holders with several years or more experience to receive additional recognition and prestige. Additionally, as the number of CAS specializations has grown, holders of multiple CAS specialization certifications have no additional method to distinguish between a regular CMAS and a CMAS with additional specialized certifications/experience.
  • Also at this time, ATAB is beginning to encourage existing CMAS holders to conduct officially sponsored training of ATAB ERMs. These official designations or certifications are to distinguish trainers and instructors.

  • CMAS Advanced Levels:

  • Certified Master Elite Anti-terrorism Specialist (CMEAS)
  • Requirements:
  • - Minimum two years as a CMAS
  • - Four CAS specializations
  • - Two recommendation letters from supervisors, professional colleagues, or any executive member of a recognized professional security association stating outstanding contributions made in a professional work, volunteer or organization capacity. Executive member can be local chapter, regional, national or international levels.

  • Certified Grandmaster Antiterrorism Specialist (CGMAS)
  • Requirements:
  • - Minimum three years as a CMEAS
  • - Minimum two additional CAS specializations, for a total of six
  • - Three recommendation letters from supervisors, professional colleagues, or any executive member of a recognized professional security association stating outstanding contributions made in a professional work, volunteer or organization capacity. Executive member can be local chapter, regional, national or international levels.
  • - Formal documentation of a project, presentation, or policy paper or article done or created in an official capacity at a place of work, or published in an official security magazine, journal, book or website that can be verified or substantiated by at least two other individuals. These individuals must be different than those writing the recommendation letters.

  • Certified Grandmaster Elite Anti-terrorism Specialist (CGMEAS)

  • Description: CGMEAS is the highest certification from ATAB. As an example, Toastmasters International has two certification tracks, which are tied together by the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) level. This is the same for ATAB, by being required to have certifications in both the Trainer and Instructor tracks as well. The time requirement from CMAS to CGMEAS is a minimum of ten years, and seven CAS specializations. This is the pinnacle of the ATAB certifications and training programs.

  • Requirements:
  • - Must be a CGMAS for at least five years
  • - Must have at least one additional CAS specialization, for a total of seven
  • - Must be a Certified Master Elite Instructor-Trainer
  • - Must be a Certified Master Elite Anti-terrorism Instructor
  • - Five recommendation letters from supervisors, professional colleagues, or any executive member of a recognized professional security association stating outstanding contributions made in a professional work, volunteer or organization capacity. Executive member can be local chapter, regional, national or international levels.
  • - Formal documentation of three projects, presentations, or policy papers or articles done or created in an official capacity at a place of work, or published in an official security magazine, journal, book or website that can be verified or substantiated by at least two other individuals. These individuals must be different than those writing the recommendation letters. All projects, presentations, policy papers or articles must have been completed in the last five years.
  • - Candidate must have unanimous approval of all members of the ATAB Certification Committee
